GSM Records proudly presents this new CD
Fine People Everywhere
It’s hard to imagine that fifteen years ago this upstate New York band was formed by a father and his two sons as a one shot deal to help raise funds for the Cathedral of All Saints Men and Boys Choir in Albany, NY at a Mardi Gras party. Here they are releasing their fifth CD on the GSM Record Label housed at Stonewall Studio in Rensselaerville, NY. What a journey it’s been. These original compositions and two classic zydeco cover tunes represent their nouveau zydeco style that has kept them very busy touring in the Northeast for so many years. Even though the sons have moved on to explore their own musical adventures in Los Angeles,California, Greg Speck (Captain Squeeze) and the Zydeco Moshers are still “marching to the sound of a different accordion.”
Their unique interpretations reflect influences from the zydeco world of CJ Chenier, Terrence Simeon, Buckwheat Zydeco and so many others. “The Captain” plays his piano accordion along with C and Bb Cajun button boxes to shape the songs on this new CD. The May 2010 release includes these seasoned musicians from the region: Greg Speck, vocals and accordions; Alek Speck, frottoir; Brian Egan, vocals and drums; James Rissacher, vocals and guitar; Ryan Dunham, Cajun vocals and harmonicas; Bill Lawrence, bass. Along with the originals by Speck and Egan, they have also covered Michael Doucet’s Zydeco Gris Gris and Beau Jocque’s Give Him Cornbread.
When you walk away from a concert or party with Captain Squeeze and the Zydeco Moshers, your dancing adrenalin levels have probably peaked and you will need some time to decompress. Feet tapping, hand clapping zydeco dancing fans in northeastern USA often say, “It was fabulous! We loved it, our guests and audiences loved it and people are still talking about playing the washboards...You don’t just stand there and play, you really get us into your music!”
They have been performing to thousands of people at festivals, weddings, parties, conventions and village park concerts. They independently record for GSM Records and have sold out their first three albums to people of all ages. Go to their website for more details about CD release parties and tour schedules. They mix pop tunes, zydeco standards, and original material into a musical gumbo sure to feed anyone’s appetite.
Touring to perform throughout the northeast at 50+ events each year keeps them quite busy. They have opened for The Neville Brothers, Buckwheat Zydeco, Terrance Simien, C. J. Chenier, Steve Riley, Chris Ardoin and Geno Delophose.
They are available for live radio and television promotions, in-store CD release performances, fundraisers, Mardi Gras parties, corporate events, community cultural concerts, weddings, private functions, club dates, anniversary parties, second lines and other special events. The GSM record label helps to promote events in its monthly e-mail newsletter and website containing considerable information about CSZM.
